About Us

Profile

Amid a rich history dating back to 9th November 1997, Hi! Club: Speak With Your Hands, Listen With Your Heart, attains a heritage of 19 years in 2016.

With the aim to unite the hearing and our non-hearing counterparts, Hi! Club seeks to instil passion in its members by offering exclusive sign language courses executed by our dedicated instructors and even opportunities to put to use the obtained signing skills with the prospect of interacting with the deaf and hard of hearing effectively.

Besides acquiring the ability to communicate with the hearing-impaired, Hi! Club engages in song signing actively for both school based and external events.

Definitely dusted with the elements of camaraderie and enjoyment, Hi! Club sign language courses teach ‘Signed Exact English’ (SEE2), thus enabling Hi! Clubbers to efficiently converse and reach out especially to our local deaf and hard of hearing friends.

The courses are divided into three categories mainly, Basic A, Basic B and Intermediate. All of which cater to our members’ respective signing abilities through stages, progressing only upon completion of the earlier phase. Club members also have the opportunity to become instructors after they pass each stage.

Our lessons are conducted once a week commencing from 6.30pm, for 2 hours each session, on either Monday or Thursday. There are 8 sessions in total per semester.

Furthermore, our traditional Hi! Club camps adhere to our exceptional custom of signing through fun and excitement while reinforcing and enhancing our signing capabilities attained during lessons, facilitating the improvement of our sign language capacity in a natural manner.
Ultimately, while making friends and building relationships through stimulating activities meticulously planned out for the Hi! Club’s mission, Hi! Clubbers always benefit relentlessly. Be it socially or intellectually, the knowledge gained as a Hi! Clubber will absolutely remain an asset throughout your life.
